Question 1: What is a Swedish work permit? A Swedish work permit allows citizens from outside the EU to live, reside, and work in Sweden. Typically, it is necessary to apply for and be granted a work permit before coming to Sweden. Question 2: When do you need a work permit? To work in Sweden, you need a work permit if you don’t already have permission to work there. Working without a valid work permit is against the law and can affect your future ability to obtain a work permit.
Question 3: What are the requirements for obtaining a work permit in Sweden? To get a work permit in Sweden, you must meet several requirements, including having a valid passport, having an employment contract with conditions in line with Swedish collective agreements or industry standards, and having a sufficiently high income to support yourself. Employers must also offer certain insurances and securities. Starting from November 1, 2023, the salary requirement is a monthly salary of 27,360 SEK before tax.

- 3,055 SEK for children aged 0-6
- 3,667 SEK for children aged 7-10
- 4,279 SEK for children aged 11-14
- 4,889 SEK for children aged 15 or older
Question 6: How long does it take to get a Swedish work permit? The waiting time for obtaining a work permit varies depending on the industry. It can range from a few months to about a year.
